Enter the void of the in-between
searching for ones who lost their way
Voices they seek indiscriminate evil
Watching, waiting for the weak
Some moments give us pause like a delta of an endless ocean
We hesitate to raise our sails
and rather find comfort in our bed of nails
Each moment we rest
deprives us of our best
We make sheets of the sails and retire
Some will stay behind, but don't pay them mind
They'll bleed slowly to sleep in their beds
Look into the night, prepare for a fight
You'll have lived to tell tales to the dead
Look into the night
Prepare for a fight
Live, learn, tell the tales to the dead

Long Since Forgotten
02:14
|
|

The night is falling
Eerie haze creeping in
The town is quiet
As the day's evening begins
Long are forgotten the tales of fright
Long since forgotten the tale of might
Though few know, though few wise
Few are the ones who carry the prize
One had forgotten while keeping to thyself
The book of retribution which sat upon one's shelf
With no time for warning
No way to prepare
This quiet town fell into despair
Long are forgotten
Though few know, though few wise
Long since forgotten
Few are the ones who carry the prize

I've Never walked so far in my life
this snow of ash was choking me
with my boy, born into fire by my side
this lifeless waste is all we can see
a quick death
Is all that I desire
but my boy and I
must carry the fire
He had no taste of the world he left on that night
He'll never watch the leaves turn - never hear the birds cry
all I can do is try to give him hope
and when I die he'll have to learn how to cope
Time extends beyond our scope
lifeless trees fall upon the road
bands of killers descend upon the weak
can't see the sun through this ashy sky so bleak
And perhaps she was right to want to put him down
but I've made up my mind
and it's too late to change it now
I dream of blue skies on the wretched horizon
And we found death
pure evil, cannibals and thieves
just hold your breath
it's so cold those men will see
Fortune awaits us somewhere out there
There must be someone who cares out there
wandering and holding the fire
I hope it was right to survive

Memories in Time

I woke up today
a cold feeling swarmed my home
I woke up today
with a stranger in my way
My father's sweat in the foundation
A picket fence at my expense
your bed now rests where I once laid my head
Wandering rooms, nothing I recall
Wandering halls, everything replaced
not a familiar face
nothing of mine or anything in correct place
I may be dead but I am not gone
I'll make blood boil, I'll make you tremble
My father's sweat in the foundation
A picket fence at my expense
your bed now rests where I once laid my head
Peering window
All my memories, in time, erased
I woke up today with a stranger in my way

Distances
03:28
|
|

This day interrupted by sudden revelation
Seconds last for hours - my perception has been shattered
Shards of buried purpose, uncovered, reflecting towards the sky
The infinite above us - a reminder that we will die
Sidewalks we travel, no means to the end
These friendships unravel, to lengths I can tend
Distances once infinite through space and time
Distances of sidewalks we travel
No means to get to the end of the line
I know what I've done - I don't know why
No means til the end of our time
Trivialized under greater skies
yet this moment I'll not forget
Sun rays slice through clouded skies
yet there's only so many sunny days in this life
and soon we will all reach towards that fate we all know
After three months of sunshine, we wait for the snow
But sun shines among us now, in people we know

Invoking the Muse
05:12
|
|
||
Muse of the Pen, Muse of the knife
Two that are one, Ender of strife
Lend me your voice, cut into lies
fat piled high, burned in sacrifice
my flesh is yours, vessel of ice
bring truth to me, open my eyes
To speak from the core is my desire
let my standards unwire
set history on fire
I have no use for these things
they distract from the entire
sound the drum in my ear
crack the window to feed the fire
I want freedom from this cadaver
let me meet Althea and know I'm too weak to have her
let my pneuma escape this portal
let me glimpse at another wave between gods and mortals
burn my wings but leave the ashes
Charred reminder of what we cannot be
O muse of letters
write your truth through me
Parse my being down to naught
cleanse my existence of this rot
I am ready, O Muse, to do as I am bidden
Yell your word to reveal what is hidden
